SYMBIOSIS Casting & Acting Workshop with Iris Baumüller and Prodromos Antoniadis
MALLORCA 04.09. - 06.09.26How do I give my best performance in a casting? In this workshop, we strike a balance between perfect role preparation and the openness to immediately implement the director’s instructions. What tools should I have in my repertoire to be able to let go of my preparation if necessary? How can I use my acting skills to surprise and convince the director and casting director in this role?
To this end, scenes and improvisations will be performed over the course of three days, with Prod and Iris working in open dialogue with the actresses on stage. Prod will demonstrate techniques within the scenes that answer the above questions from an acting perspective. Iris will bring her extensive expertise to bear, contributing the perspective of a casting director as well as the needs of production and direction. The focus will be on acting. The goal is to understand the demands placed on actors during this time, to expand their toolkit, and not necessarily to deliver a scene that is ready for filming.
Iris and Prod want to help you take your acting to the next level in a protected space, without commercial pressure. The selected participants will work with Iris and Prod on stage once or twice. Participants will receive selected scenes in advance. We will work exclusively on scenes for two actors (no monologues). Due to changing requirements in film production and changing viewing habits and expectations among audiences, acting techniques have had to evolve in order to achieve authentic acting and speech. The selection of acting tools demonstrated in this workshop are derived from the BAS technique.

Iris Baumüller
Iris Baumüller (Die Besetzer Casting) has been working as a casting director for German and international productions for over 20 years.
Her casting offices are located in Cologne (head office) and Berlin.
Iris is a member of the Bundesverband Casting (BVC), the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA) and the „deutschen Filmakademie“.
